Bringing our differences together to bring Otis home
“Months after the Echo Mountain Complex Fire, much of what remains looks like construction rather than destruction — fresh tree stumps, piles of logs, plywood and two-by-fours lying amid pickup trucks, backhoes and RVs.
“A seemingly disparate group is galvanizing an opportunity for the tiny town’s rebirth. Five volunteers, motley in background yet welded by a cause, forged the Cascade Relief Team, an organic response to rebuild from the disaster that gutted Otis.”

From Fire to Furniture
It was one of those problems you’d think wouldn’t be a problem: people wanting to donate furniture. Lots of it.
But in the days after the Echo Mountain Fire, as both local samaritans and out-of-town vacation homeowners sought to donate furniture, one problem became immediately apparent. The furniture had to go now – and fire survivors wouldn’t have homes for months, or even years.
That’s when Pastor Phil Magnan and the folks of the Cavalry Church sprung into action, eventually securing four different locations around Lincoln City to store furniture until fire survivors needed it. Better: they arranged for pick-up and delivery of the furniture when needed.
